For over twenty years, Slope Farms has been raising grass-fed beef on New York’s natural pastures with care, patience, and a long-term view. From the beginning our work has been shaped by a simple committment: to raise cattle well, tend the land responsibly, and build relationships that last.
A New York Landscape
Slope Farms operates across some of New York State’s most enduring grassland regions: the slopes of the western Catskills, the plateaus of the Finger Lakes, and the rolling pastures of the Mohawk River Valley. These landscapes are defined by cool seasons, reliable rainfall, and perennial pasture—conditions well suited to raising cattle entirely on grass.
Our cattle live outdoors on pasture, moving across fields shaped by topography, soil, and weather. The land itself determines the pace of the work. Farming here means adapting to the seasons, observing closely, and responding with care rather than force.
Long-term Relationships
From the start we have worked with a small group of wholesale partners—select butcher shops, retail stores, and restaurants—many of whom we have supplied for more than fifteen years. These relationships are built on trust, consistency, and a shared understanding of quality and consistency.
In addition to wholesale customers, we also work directly with individuals and small groups seeking custom bulk orders. In every case, our approach is the same: clear communication, realistic expectations, and respect for the people on both sides of the relationship.
Stewardship and Intent
Our work is guided by a belief that good farming is inseparable from animal welfare, and sustainable land stewardship.. The health of the cattle, the vitality of the pasture, and the condition of the soil are not separate concerns—they are part of the same system.
We raise cattle in a way that reflects this understanding, allowing flavor, quality, and consistency to emerge as outcomes. The land and soil are not backdrops to production; they are the foundation of everything we do.
